The practice of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga was introduced to the West through the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The term “vinyasa” refers to sequential steps, or the intention of placing one step after another. The traditional sequencing of postures or asanas practiced in this style of yoga is designed to calm the mind, align the body and nourish the spirit. Regardless of age or physical ability, the Ashtanga approach to enhancing breath through posture encourages purification, detoxifying the body’s internal organs, while enhancing flexibility, strength and ease of movement.

Cecily’s classes are designed with safety and enjoyment in mind. In both studio settings and private lessons, she encourages students to be present in their practice, taking solace in yoga from daily sources of stress and fatigue.
