Cecily teaches one-on-one sessions in students' homes and at Downward Dog. These classes can be private, semi-private (couples) or for small groups. Fees for private clients are determined according to location and length of class (60-90 min) and range from $80-$120. In a private setting, Cecily will conduct a physical assessment of posture, strength, flexibility and any history of injuries or medical conditions. All information is kept strictly confidential.

Please note that a fee will be incurred for any appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice.

"I am a neophyte at yoga. Within a couple of months of working with Cecily, I have experienced increased strength, stability and flexibility. Her enthusiasm, passion, and practical knowledge have been formative in my new passion for yoga. I leave each session feeling stronger, challenged and self-empowered. I would strongly recommend Cecily to anyone looking for a yoga instructor."

What's best for me - studio classes or private lessons?

Studio classes and one-on-one sessions offer different benefits and experiences. Classes in a studio space provide the energy and inspiration of group setting. Often this generates considerable heat, causing students to sweat more and therefore detox to a greater extent. The energy that results from moving together in a large group can fuel the type of experience that many individuals come to crave. In addition, those who do not like to be the focus of attention or receive a great deal of hands-on assistance would be most comfortable in group classes.

Private lessons, meanwhile, offer more personal attention and are the ideal setting for addressing the practice as it applies to the individual. Those who are new to yoga can gain great benefit from starting with private lessons before moving into a group class. One-on-one attention ensures that postures are learnt with precise alignment, encouraging a safe and effective practice. Furthermore, lessons can conveniently be held in the comfort of the student’s home. For those already accustomed to a class setting, private lessons foster individual progress and growth in the Ashtanga series. Together with the teacher, students can address particular poses that present challenge or restriction. They can then carry the information gained in private lessons into group classes and build a solid foundation for independent practice.
